Turning a Blind Eye: A Lesson in Peace That Hit Home
Apr 2, 2025
A few weeks back, I stumbled across a reel of an old man dishing out some simple, yet solid advice:
Turn a blind eye sometimes for your own peace.”
It’s the kind of wisdom I’ve always carried in my pocket, rooted deep in the Islamic values I grew up with—patience, letting go, seeking calm over chaos. But for some reason, hearing it this time landed different. Maybe it’s the noise of life lately, but his words cut through like a quiet bell, and I’ve been chewing on them ever since.
It’s funny how sometimes stuff you’ve known your whole entire life can suddenly click in a new way. As a perfectionist (I know, I can’t help it..), I’m wired to spot every detail—every snag, every chance to tweak and push (I call it pixel obsession). But that hustle can leave you wound tight, chasing fights that don’t need fighting. The old man’s take reminded me there’s strength in stepping back, in choosing peace over proving a point. It’s not about ignoring what matters—it’s about knowing when to let the small stuff slide so you don’t lose yourself in the fray. For me, it’s a nudge to keep that balance, a little piece of clarity I didn’t know I needed until now.
